Accept credit card payments for escort services with your phone

While there is no written rule suggesting that you should accept credit card payments for the escort services (or shouldn’t), technology has recently opened up entirely new opportunities small businesses that wish to join the world of credit cards. Mobile devices transform easily into credit card machines, and iPads become cash registers.

A device called Square revolutionized the world of mobile credit card applications — with a number of copycats not too far behind.

Square is an attachment that plugs into your mobile device’s headphone jack. The square device acts as a card swiper and with the use of their app, anyone who works on the go can accept credit card payments. Baby sitters, taxi drivers, paper boys, landscapers and even lemonade stand owners can accept credit cards with the use of Square and an iPhone or Android phone.

Square works with any Android phone running Android 2.1 and up or any Apple device running iOS 4.1 and up. They charge a flat 2.75% for each transaction, with no monthly fees, no setup fees or other charges that are typically incurred with accepting credit cards. There are no concerns about variable transaction costs, nor are there equipment fees. The Square device and app are entirely free.

When you use the Square to accept a credit card payment for your services, the money is directly deposited into a holding account that you can link to your own bank account for later use. The money is deposited every day, by the next business day, so you don’t have to wait extended amount of times to access your funds.

Over two million people are currently using Square to accept credit cards and enhance their small business profits. It also makes accepting credit cards much, much easier and convenient.

There are several copycat versions of the Square around already, with surely many more to follow. Intuit currently uses a version called GoPayment, but it uses, reportedly, a much more complicated rate structure for the different credit cards. A company called mPowa uses a system called PayAnywhere and offers the lowest transaction fee at 2.69 percent and the ability to directly deposit your incoming funds into your own account, instead of a holding account. PayPal has even gotten into the action with a triangle-shaped card reader and 2.7% transactions.

However, how convenient (or awkward) is it to actually scan your client’s credit card when he comes for an encounter with you? It can as awkward and uncomfortable as you make it…or, it can be a seamless part of the entire encounter. Before you retire to the living room or bedroom, you take care of business and then proceed to really take care of business.

But, if this still seems to take the romance out of the encounter, consider signing up to utilize the PayWithSquare system. Introduced by the same company that is revolutionizing the industry with the Square, PayWithSquare is a system that utilizes iPads as registers and phones as your wallet. Here’s how it works as a consumer:

  • You sign up with PayWithSquare as an account holder. You provide a picture to use as your ID and your name. After linking it with your credit card, you are set up to begin using the system.
  • Look for merchants on your phone that utilize the PayWithSquare service. When you find one, you can enter the business, order an item, and pay by simply telling the cashier your name.
  • As you enter the business, your phone automatically notifies the merchant you are there and can pay with PayWithSquare. Your picture and name pop up on their screen.

Merchants an utilize this service to easily process charge transactions and get their money easily and quickly. Currently, only 75,000 merchants are using the service, but it’s sure to catch on. PayPal has a copycat service in place called PayPal Local, and many others are sure to follow.

As an escort, this set up could work well for you. Inform your clients that you use the system, and encourage them to sign up for an account. As you meet, your client’s name and photo appears on your iPad. You can simply type in his fee for the encounter and charge it to his account. Payment should arrive in your account the next business day.

You can complete this task while your client showers and preps for the appointment with you. It’s quick, easy and non-intrusive. You don’t require any personal information from him, nor do you have an extensive paper trail as a result. As a merchant, you can sign up with an inconspicuous name that won’t be questioned on his records, and everyone can be easily satisfied.

Clients may be extra pleased because they don’t have to remember to bring cash to the encounter, don’t have to be bothered with logging in online to pay with their credit card ahead of time, getting their credit card out to pay upon arrival or be bothered with the discussion of payment at all after initially registering for the service.

Keep in mind there may still be a paper trail associated with this process. You won’t be able to hide income, as it shows up as credit card transactions into your holding account. Your business name will still appear on your clients’ credit card statements. Even though this process may revolutionize the acceptance of credit cards, it doesn’t avoid all problems associated with the process for escorts. However, it makes it much more convenient and accessible for your business needs.
